Forest Plants

Very long-lived, woody plants with a main stem (trunk) and many secondary branches that are supported above the ground. Trees are usually very tall at maturity and can be evergreen (retain leaves/needles over the winter) or deciduous (drop leaves before winter).

Broad-leaved, woody plants with multiple stems arising at or near the base, and many secondary branches resulting in a bushy appearance. Lower in height than trees, usually under 3 meters tall.

Broad-leaved, herbaceous flowering plants that are not grasses

Narrow-leaved, herbaceous plants with round hollow stems and nodes (if grasses), no nodes and triangular stems if sedges.
